Quantock Hills:
The area surrounding Mill Meadow was the first site in England to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, inspiring the poetry of both Coleridge and Wordsworth.

Fyne Court: National Trust and Somerset Wildlife Trust. Pleasure grounds of pioneer 19th-century electrician, Andrew Cross, now a nature reserve. Headquarters of Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty also has a Visitor’s Centre for the lovely Quantocks countryside. 2.4 miles

Hestercombe: A unique collection of three gardens spanning three centuries of garden history and design. All have undergone acclaimed restoration works. With over fifty acres of lakes, temples, cascades, woodland walks, formal terraces, vivid colours, plus amazing views. Excellent café and dogs welcome. 2.6 miles

The Museum of Somerset: Home of the “Frome Hoard”, which is the largest collection of Roman coins ever discovered in a single container in Britain. Entry is free. 3 miles

West Somerset Railway: Steam Trains to the seaside. England’s longest and best heritage railway. 10 stations linked by a 20 mile scenic journey through the Quantocks Hills to the seaside. The nearest station to us is Bishops Lydeard Station. 5 miles

Black Rock: Outdoor activity and team building days 15 minutes from Mill Meadow. Activities include High Ropes Course, Archery, Kayaking, Mountain Boarding, Climbing and Caving. 7 miles

The Coleridge Way: A 36 mile marked walk through the stunning Somerset countryside of the Quantock Hills, the Brendon Hills and Exmoor following in the footsteps of the romantic poet Coleridge. Walk starts in the village of Nether Stowey. 8 miles

Oatley Vineyard: A small family-run English vineyard, near Cannington in Somerset. 8 miles

Wookey Hole Caves: Take a guided tour of spectacular caves, learn about the Witch of Wookey and step back in time in the penny arcade and hall of mirrors.

Wells: England’s smallest city and home to the most beautiful of the great English Cathedrals. The medieval palace has been home to the Bishops of Bath & Wells since 1206. 30 miles

Cheddar Gorge and Caves: Explore Britain’s biggest gorge from the dramatic cliffs to the stunning stalactite caverns. This world-famous beauty spot reveals many stories of our prehistoric ancestors, and is an international centre for caving and rock climbing. 32 miles

Fleet Air Arm Museum: The Museum has the largest collection of Naval aircraft anywhere in Europe together with the first British built Concorde, you can go on-board and visit the cockpit. Outside there is a children’s adventure playground. 32 miles

Crealy Adventure Park:
A favourite theme park for children of all ages, minutes from the M5 at Exeter. 38 miles

Barrington Court: An atmospheric fragment of old Somerset: an empty Tudor manor house, beautifully restored in the 1920s, with farm buildings, abundant flowers and orchards. 17 miles

Dunster Castle: An ancient castle and comfortable country home with dramatic vistas and subtropical gardens. 19 miles

Montacute House: A masterpiece of Elizabethan Renaissance architecture and design. With its towering walls of glass, glow of ham stone and surrounding garden, it is a place of beauty and wonder. 26 miles

Glastonbury Tor: Prominent hill overlooking the Isle of Avalon, Glastonbury and Somerset. 30 miles
